Missions at Harpeth
As a church, we commit a significant part of our budget to missions because we are passionate about transforming the world with the justice and mercy of Jesus Christ. We send teams of people each year to other countries to share the gospel and change lives. We financially and support new churches—both church planters and church-planting organizations. We regularly support local ministries to serve our neighbors here in Franklin.
We provide opportunities for Harpeth Christian Church to help trust and follow Jesus by serving our community’s materially poor through our partnership with GraceWorks Ministries in Franklin, Tennessee. We participate in several local events that GraceWorks coordinates within the community, including food drives, back-to-school backpack campaigns, baby showers for expecting moms, Thanksgiving boxes, and “The Manger” at Christmas.
Under the leadership of Bobby Harrington, Lead Pastor at Harpeth Christian Church, Discipleship.org has committed to helping church leaders focus on the discipleship model that Jesus Christ showed in the Bible. This groups is comprised of disciples, church leaders, and disciple-making networks that make disciples who make disciples. Discipleship.org brings together and promotes leading voices, resources, and actionable content on discipleship. With the input and partnership of voices like Jim Putman, Robert Coleman, Bill Hull, Francis Chan, KP Yohannan, Alan Hirsch, and Jeff Vanderstelt, among others, we have identified seven key elements of a discipleship lifestyle. We use this as a framework for discipleship. This ministry champions simple, reproducible practices that make discipleship a practical reality for churches of all types. They have created a Model for Discipleship that has been promoted all over the world and commended to the disciple makers everywhere. We hope to influence the national dialogue (and beyond) to help turn churches back to discipleship. We have Discipleship Forums yearly in Nashville, Tennessee in the fall with over 1500 church leaders in attendance! The next Forum is scheduled Nov 7-8, 2019. Get more info at Discipleship.org.
We are proud to be a part of the Renew Network, which renews biblical teaching to fuel disciple-making. We believe God wants all of us to be disciples who help make disciples—until Jesus returns. We believe Jesus and His gospel have the power to change lives—for individuals, churches, communities, and beyond. Jesus’ mission is the greatest mission on planet earth. We are so happy that we can all join in it together! Join the next Renew gathering on Nov 6,2019 at Harpeth Christian Church. Get more info here.

Harpeth is honored to be a part of mission work in Uganda through the work God is doing with JP and Jill Robinson. JP was on staff at Harpeth for 10 years as the Youth Minister before their family was called to Uganda in March of 2012, where they served through 2019. They oversee 300+ churches who minister to thousands of people who are hungry for Jesus.
We are excited to announce after seven years of international mission work, the Robinsons are returning home to Franklin, Tennessee, summer 2019! JP will be back on staff as a full-time Discipleship minister, shepherding the church and teaching some on Sunday mornings! We are thrilled to have them back on this side of the ocean with their two kids, John Mark and Riley. We will continue to support the work they began and look forward to many years of life-changing discipleship, teaching the people in Uganda how to trust and follow Jesus.
